NXE Errors 0

ss-games_540x303 NXE Errors

Kotaku reports that the New Xbox Experience (NXE) has errors , what a shame . But of course it’s a huge update , so can’t expect everything to be perfect , can we ?

They say that the majority of the problems are coming from the Xbox Live Marketplace , which personally I’ve had problems with , just running slow and generally un-responsive , but that is also probably due to the large numbers of people currently browsing the new ‘experience’.

In fact , I’ve already given up exploring the update , I loaded it up and then literally spent 5 mins having a look then decided that watching The Sixth Sense was a better idea , Bruce Willis is a good actor y’ know ?

Xbox Live Web Marketplace is up, even though the majority of it is un-usable, it’s still up.

giving you a back up option for redeeming Microsoft Points, purchasing games and searching content available for the Xbox 360

I hate when they do this. Don’t put it up if it’s not 100% functional! Why tease people only to say you can’t use it!

Eurogamer Call of Duty World At War Review 0

Well Call of Duty World At War is out, and I’m not too bothered if I’m honest, and by the looks of my friends list, not many other people are bothered too.

Whilst I’m still playing my way through again, and again, and again on Gears of War 2, still slogging away at Far Cry 2, Call of Duty: WAW isn’t even registered atm. BUT, looks like Eurogamer do give a damn. They’ve put up a review of COD: WAW, and, well, it’s an interesting read if anything.

World at War certainly benefits from Modern Warfare’s beefier graphics engine, but when it comes to the crunch it lacks the crucial innovations - both in gameplay and concept - that made its immediate predecessor so deservedly popular.

It’s a Call of Duty game, so it will sell, millions, but personally I’d still rather play COD: Modern Warfare.

Halo 3: Recon, All the News 0

Well, sorry folks, whilst I was too busy playing Gears of War 2, looks like details of Halo 3: Recon have come out of the woodwork.

An ‘expansion pack’ as it is, lasting 3-5 hours, is a prequel to Halo 3, and you act as a new hero, a UNSC recon solider. Will I be picking this up? Probably. On release? No. Only reason is because even though they are saying it’s ‘not a $60 title’, here in the UK undoubtedly it’s going to be £35+. And sod that.

The Halo 3: Recon trailer and Game Informer info can be seen at each respected link.

Gears of War 2 ‘Kinda Review’ 1

gearsofwar_2 Gears of War 2 Kinda Review

Oh I’ve been a bus bee lately. After picking up FarCry 2 and playing that almost constant, on friday I picked up Gears of War 2, and again played that to death.

When I got the game, the over enthusiastic salesman is Zavvi went on to tell me how ‘awesome’ the game is, and as a fool I actually asked him how he’s managed to play it through already, even thought it had only just come out, ‘Well obviously we can’t have it on during the day, but last few evenings we’ve had it out after closing, finished it.‘, now, I didn’t bother asking anything else ’cause I was too busy thinking, ‘Wow, must be a short game’.

Coming in at around 8-9 hours, it might be classed as ’short’ when you compare it to FarCry 2 (i believe 40 hours was the benchmark?) but it really is a truly remarkable 9 hours. Those fella’s at Epic have pulled the cat out the bag again and have produced a marvel of a game.

So, this isn’t a proper review review, just my immediate thought. I’m not really one to review a game after the first play through, that’s like reviewing a car if you’ve only driven it round the block. You need time to rip down the tires, get a feel for it, because you never know on the first drive, you might miss something truly amazing… or bitterly disappointing.

Far Cry 2 First Impressions 1

far-cry-21 Far Cry 2 First Impressions

Well I grabbed my copy of Far Cry 2 today, hence the slow and most probably less frequent updates today, and for the next few days unfortunately. First impressions are very good, I’m loving the open feeling of the game, the option to explore by going around, frequent gun battles at outposts, the feeling that you are not just dropped into the game on a set path.

This is, so far, the best point, but at the same time the worst point of the game for me. It is great to be able to have freedom to choose to do 1 or the other, the freedom to casually stroll around admiring the landscapes, but for me, this leaves too much to chance. I’ve often found myself doing a certain mission, then off on several ’side’ missions only to forget where I was and what is the main plot line, but is that because there isn’t one?

Well, as I said I’ve only had the game for 1 day, still very early, so my opinions could change, but so far I am, on the whole, very impressed. Let’s just hope I don’t give up because of the god damn awful save points.
