The Outsider sees GTA as competition 0

gtaiva3 The Outsider sees GTA as competition

The Outsider, an open-world action game based on the story of a framed cop, has stated that they’d be mad not to consider GTA competition:

“Obviously, we’d be mad not to consider GTA as competition because of the open-world nature, but in terms of the story-telling, I’ve not really seen people that are in that [place] yet, but I think that will come. I do think we’re genuinely innovating there.”

This is what Frontier boss David Braben said to VG247 when asked what games he would consider competition to the new game.

Aerosmith are “First Band of Many” on Guitar Hero 0

url Aerosmith are First Band of Many on Guitar HeroGuitar Hero: Aerosmith has been a big hit, shifting 567,000 copies sold in it’s first week, apparently well over $25 million, not including any fancy guitar bundles.

Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford said, “We’re the first band of many” to get the ‘luck’ of having a Guitar Hero game. $$$ come rolling in and Kai Huang, president of RedOctane says, “There’s actually just a handful of bands that have this really deep catalog of music that people would have a lot of fun playing.” I mean sure, why wouldnt anyone want to be put in CG, have their old dated music catalog put onto a game and make $25 million.

Devil May Cry and Resident Evil Comics on the way? 0

dmccomic1 Devil May Cry and Resident Evil Comics on the way?I’m not much of a comic man, but I suppose I used to like Spawn, mainly for the artwork… anyways, looks like Resident Evil and Devil May Cry are following in the footsteps of Gears of War, World of Warcraft and Mirror’s Edge and getting snapped up to DC’s WildStorm.

We’re ecstatic that Resident Evil is returning to WildStorm, where we have already established deep roots into the mythos of this world,” said Hank Kanalz, Vice President/General Manager for WildStorm. “We can’t wait to continue, and bring a freshness and excitement to the property to match the amazing things they are doing with the game.

More details are still to come on this, but there has been a press release, hit to jump to read it all…

Microsoft are Pissed with Bungie 0

Microsoft angry with Bungie!Microsoft angry with Bungie!

We all knew of Bungie’s disappointment that they couldn’t unveil a new project at E3, and they let us know why. Turn out the ‘publisher’ was in fact Microsoft, apparently they were pissed off that Bungie has decided to go and make their own plans about unveiling the project at E3.

Even though Bungie’s now an independent company, Microsoft is still its publisher and apparently wants to be in charge of PR strategy, especially when it comes to major new game announcements.

Microsoft are saying that someone at Bungie made a premature announcement and are now trying to shift the blame. Whichever is true, it sure doesn’t make good relations between the two any better.

What Happens when you put good looking people, at a Gamespot party 0

Haha, well you need to laugh! This just goes to show that “celebrities” will surely go to whatever they think will get them in the news or talked about. “Look at those people, I bet they’re all level 70 World of Warcraft, every single one of them…“. Vida Guerra’s ass is more powerful than Master Chief’s gun? I’d have to agree.

Operation Flashpoint 2 Coming in 2009 0

Opertions Flaspoing will be coming in 2009

Opertions Flaspoint will be coming in 2009

Kotaku has a pretty good article writen by Mike Fahey about the upcoming Operation Flashpoint 2, to be honest I’ve never played Opertation Flashpoint 1, and I’m not entirerly sure whether this next installment will be any good. But when I see an image of sharp grass, soldiers making a move for a big ‘ol chopper, and a dusty looking sky - it needs a mention.

The original Operation Flashpoint came out in 2001 and met with a huge fan following. Now seven years later, Codemasters is hard at work on Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising, and while original developer Bohemia Interactive the huge fan following is still in place…only now they’re making the game. According to the gentlemen from Codemasters who were presenting OF2 on Thursday morning, the team is filled with fans of the original game, dedicated to doing the franchise justice with this ambitious sequel.

Chop Till You Drop on Wii

Chop Till You Drop on Wii

Dead Rising on Wii? No sorry fans, your going to get Chop Till You Drop! So fancy battling off hundreds of brain dead zombies with your Wii-mote?! I think NOT, just take a light stroll through the mall, because apparently the Wii can’t run with the hundreds of zombies, still, a dozen is enough if your battling to stay alive… isn’t it?

Anyway, Capcom’s press release reveals all:

  • New level of interaction - aim and fire guns, swing and throw weapons and shake off zombie attacks with added Wii Remote functionality
  • Huge environment - expansive indoor and outdoor areas of the mall provide a variety of different locations to explore
  • Improved save functionality allows for more seamless gameplay
  • Hoards of enemies on screen at once resulting in non-stop, pulse-pounding action
  • Anything in the mall is at Frank’s disposal
  • Grab environmental objects like umbrellas and benches to use as improvised weapons
  • Snatch items from different stores to use as weapons including golf clubs, lawnmowers, frying pans and more

Bungie Pulled Back By Publisher? 1

Letter Posted of Bungie's Website Earlier Today
Letter Posted of Bungie’s Website Earlier Today

Harold Ryan, Bungie’s President, had a letter posted on the front page of the Bungie website, (you can see it at this link.) [NOTE: It is no longer posted, so you'll have to read it above!] saying that they were planning on revealing a game at E3, only to be pulled by their publisher. Who was that publisher? No one knows, there’s rumors, but that’s all. But I know if I worked for Bungie, I’d be pissed right now.

My views? Marketing. By the end of the week we will know what it is. Just something to get a buzz, and it’s working - I hope.
