193 The Next Metal Gear WILL be Xbox?

C’mon ! You’ve got to be kidding. After the whole Metal Gear Solid 4 Xbox Will it Wont it, you’d think everything would be over and done with. But now Konami’s Kojima Production Site has, well, truly f*cked everyone up.

Make your own damn mind up, I give up !

Xbox 360 has ‘the power’ for MGS4 1

xbox_kojima_02_01 Xbox 360 has the power for MGS4

Yes they can! After Konami spouting off about looking for get Metal Gear Solid 4 onto the Xbox 360, John Schappert, the firm’s corporate vice-president of Live, Software and Services, has come out of, wherever he’s been, and said the following:

I’m certainly in the fan club that would love to see Kojima-san’s masterpiece come our way. It would be wonderful to play Metal Gear Solid on the Xbox. It could become another of the many franchises that started their life on another console that are now coming our way.

I can’t speak on behalf of Konami, but I can shed more light on the fact that we definitely have the power to run MGS4.

There are a lot of recent examples that are in true high-def on our platform and aren’t on PS3. We’ve got an amazing amount of horsepower and graphics power.

And the saga continues…

Rumors of RE5 Exclusivity are Ripe! 0

re5 Rumors of RE5 Exclusivity are Ripe!Resident Evil 5 was always going to be a rumors and controversy galore event, from the race controversy to whether or not it’s multi-platform. And now we’re back on the multi-platform or not question. According to PlaystationLifeStyle, the latest rumor is that there may be a HUGE announcement at E3, again this is pure speculation, so this isn’t a definite. But lately is has been said that Microsoft offered Capcom a massive sum of money for the exclusivity rights for RE5.

GayGamer writes that Capcom’s VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Christian ‘Sven’ Svensson “quickly stepped in to quell the panic.”

The assertion is false. RE5 is a multiplatform release that fits with our oft-stated crossplatform strategy. … For the avoidance of doubt… simultaneous release.

They do say that Sven doesnt clearly state which is untrue, the offer of money, or the exclusivity. Personally I think that if Capcom where to sell exclusivity to Microsoft, then bigger fools them, but it would hit Sony hard, even with the release of MGS4, if they lost RE5, that would be a pretty big hit. Whether or not Microsoft stepping in for this is to try to combat the exclusivity of MGS4 on Playstation, is unsure or not, but I would hate for RE5 to be an exclusive. Guess we will just have to wait for E3.

Metal Gear Solid 5 To Be A Prequel? 0

metal-gear41 Metal Gear Solid 5 To Be A Prequel?

Speaking with 1up.com a week before the worldwide release of Metal Gear Solid 4, Ryan Payton who was Assistant Producer of MGS4, said “[there is] still a lot of room for filling in the gaps as far as Big Boss is concerned”. When speakig about MGS4, he said “There are some misunderstandings that this is the final Metal Gear game. But it’s really the final chapter of the Solid Snake story. That’s all.”

“I’m happy we could wrap up Snake’s story in MGS4,” Payton stated earlier in the interview, continuing, “because it gets to the point where if we continue on with Metal Gear Solid 5 with more Solid Snake adventures, we’ll get to the point where the game has absolutely no basis in reality. I do like the idea that this character has had four or five big missions and then that’s when it ended, rather than have 20 missions where there’s no chance in hell a secret agent could ever survive. He’s had four or five really big missions, and that seems a little more realistic to me.”

I agree completely with that, and I’m sure that quote is pretty much angled toward’s Splinter Cell veteran Sam Fisher, who seemingly survives everything the world has to throw at him.

Another interesting point to take from the interview was when Payton spoke about the shift in Metal Gear Solid 4’s game design:

“If other Japanese publishers want to improve their controls, I wouldn’t say they need to adopt western ideas, but rather that they simply need to improve them,” Payton said. Later he added, “Most Japanese development studios have producers who came up through the ranks over the course of fifteen years or so, which encourages a xenophobic atmosphere, because, outside of E3 or GDC, they haven’t branched out to foreign countries.”

Anyone For MGS4 Database? Not You Mr. Europe! 0

metal-gear-solid-database Anyone For MGS4 Database? Not You Mr. Europe!

Well well well, first and foremost, I apologise. For not mentioning in MGS4 Database that EU users are unable to get it! Honestly I was not informed of this, and neither was Kotaku by the looks of it.

If you’re European, and ran to your PS3 this morning, clawing like a madman for the Metal Gear database that Japan and the US got, you’ll no doubt already be sitting in a puddle of your own anguish, wondering aloud why SCEE couldn’t follow suit and make it part of this week’s downloads. Which they didn’t. No doubt it’s got something to do with translating Kojima’s tangled storyline into 17 languages. If you’ve bothered setting yourself up with an American (or Japanese, it has an english-language option) PSN account, you’ll have to jump in and grab it from there.

Considering I’m in the UK, I am unable to get my hands on the database, which is pretty fucking annoying to say the least. If the Plunket-meister (I’m gonna try to get it to catch on?) at Kotaku towers is correct about the translation, then correct me if I’m wrong, but Americans speak English. Why oh why are we always considered the ‘after thought’ for projects like these? Rather than have disgruntled European players, why not release the database a week later worldwide, for a welcomed response from everyone?

[Kotaku: Sorry Europe, no Database for You]
