Microsoft Sued over RROD 0

eye1 Microsoft Sued over RROD“Pissed, very pissed.” Would be the response if you spoke to several Xbox owners over their Red Ring of Death (RROD) ridden consoles. One of Microsoft’s main faults have been the common occurrence of 360 systems getting plagued by the RROD. But to say Microsoft concealed the excessive failure rate of the 360’s, just to compete with the PS3 and Nintendo Wii? Ooooh that’s harsh - but it’s exactly what Sacramento County Superior Court have done.

The lawsuit cites to a number of recent articles published in gaming trade journals and on popular websites including dailygamesnews.com, VentureBeat, Digital Media and Yahoo! Those articles contend that Microsoft knew as far back as November 2005 that over 50% of the Xbox 360 consoles involved in the initial sales launch were defective.

Now, luckily enough (and I AM touching wood here) I have a launch console and have never had a RROD, but I know of people who are on their 6,7…8 console. In fact I know of one person who got RROD, sent off to MS and as they made such a balls up with getting it sorted (over 8 months), he eventually rang them, told them he was giving up and buying a PS3, and they sent him a free Xbox Elite, several games and a 12 month Xbox Live Gold Membership (as he had obviously missed out on it whilst MS where fondling his console. So maybe that’s a good idea for any RROD sufferers? Might help ’sooth’ the pain.

Rumors of RE5 Exclusivity are Ripe! 0

re5 Rumors of RE5 Exclusivity are Ripe!Resident Evil 5 was always going to be a rumors and controversy galore event, from the race controversy to whether or not it’s multi-platform. And now we’re back on the multi-platform or not question. According to PlaystationLifeStyle, the latest rumor is that there may be a HUGE announcement at E3, again this is pure speculation, so this isn’t a definite. But lately is has been said that Microsoft offered Capcom a massive sum of money for the exclusivity rights for RE5.

GayGamer writes that Capcom’s VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, Christian ‘Sven’ Svensson “quickly stepped in to quell the panic.”

The assertion is false. RE5 is a multiplatform release that fits with our oft-stated crossplatform strategy. … For the avoidance of doubt… simultaneous release.

They do say that Sven doesnt clearly state which is untrue, the offer of money, or the exclusivity. Personally I think that if Capcom where to sell exclusivity to Microsoft, then bigger fools them, but it would hit Sony hard, even with the release of MGS4, if they lost RE5, that would be a pretty big hit. Whether or not Microsoft stepping in for this is to try to combat the exclusivity of MGS4 on Playstation, is unsure or not, but I would hate for RE5 to be an exclusive. Guess we will just have to wait for E3.
